As we all know, X wants to be an inventor when he grows up. After all the BORING stuff today, like Language Arts & Bible study, he happily worked on math and then asked to do some science. At the moment he's working on making (then will program on the computer) some sort of project that involves Legos. We have the WeDo set that has a little motor, pulleys, etc and plugs into the computer and actually works. Seriously nothing cooler than a 7 yr old programmer :)

Harder Math Please
X asked me today if I could "please get me harder math because this is way too easy." Muahaha, he may regret that request later!

Beowulf
So just ignore the double-post if this blog is wonky, trying to do it from my cell phone is harder, but much more convenient and I can post more often (once I figure out how!)
Today we're back at the state park, but its much chillier this morning than yesterday. When we were here yesterday we found a mosquito FILLED trail that seemed beautiful and teeming with frogs but couldn't go far without repellent. So today I come with DEET in hand and we will explore more after lunch.
We are currently reading a retelling of Beowulf that's written at a level for older kids. X is reading it to me in the car as we drive and he seems to be enjoying it even if some of the words are a little difficult for him without my help.

Fun "Summer" School
This morning the kids visited their great-grandfather in the hospital (hopefully to be discharged soon) and gave him notes of well wishes. Then we headed off to Buffalo River State Park to swim and go on a nature walk. Work was done in the car as well as some reading. At the park we caught a giant bumblebee, a golden colored dragonfly, and went geocaching. And then of course, worked on constructing things in the sand and burying big brother on the beach!
